I put an F40 in my Grand Prix, and now it chatters at low revs and in neutral. It is worst when the engine is under load at under 2k. I am running Royal Purple 75-90w oil. Do you guys recommend something else? Anyone else ran into this problem?

There was a thread discussing this subject about two weeks ago and it is apparent that the dual mass flywheel plays a major role in suppressing the noise that many are hearing and when you substitute a one piece flywheel in place of the dual mass the noise becomes a problem or a bigger problem. I've not heard mention of the noise from G6 owners over the threads I read on their forum and I'm using the stock dual mass flywheel and only have noise when my rpm level drops to low for the engine to idle smoothly. According to GM noise suppression is one of the major roles of the dual mass flywheel. Corvette owners have the same problem when they replace their dual mass flywheels used with their 6 spd for a lighter standard flywheel.

Thanks guys, it may be the clutch, and it could also be the single mass flywheel. But if you guys don't think that it is a problem, I won't worry about it.

Read below. Seems a common problem. Some more than others. Mine rattles too but only at idle.

I complained about it a bunch in that other thread and was convinced to live with it. I love the 6 speed and it's worth it if I have to deal with the rattle.
