does anybody make a power steering adaptor and idler to put in place of the power steering pump on the 4.9? also how do you handle the tensioner which is now gone. is there and after market one a person can use? there has to be something out there that can be modified to work.
all these questions and no answers.

Hey Tomtom,

Look at that thread and let us know if you have any questions. I think that is the way most of us are going on the power steering problem.

I have the idler pulley part # is
dayco pulley #89015 (70mm 6 groove)
Got mine at Autozone

The Camero Belt tensioner is from a 93 3.4 with A/C got it at Oreilleys for around $45

After you get the system set up I think you want about a 79.5 inch belt. With 6 ribs. If the guy behind the counter can't figure it out without knowing what car it's for, tell hi8m the first 3 numbers should be 795 for 79.5 inches, and the last number should be a 6 for the 6 ribs.

Hope this helps, and hope you get the car started soon.

I used the same pully and tentioner on my setup. No AC. I ended up needing a 63" belt.

this really looks like it'll work, i've got the idler bolted on and am picking up a tensioner tommorow and will see what i can do with the bracket. what kind of clearence do you get to the firewall from the idler. looks like it may be a bit tight.
