out of the blue my speedometer, odometer, and cruise control has stopped working on my '85 fiero 2.8 automatic. the speedometer is stuck on 25 mph. does the speed sensor have anything to do with all three of these problems? what is the connection of these three problems i am having? thanks for any help.

Absolutely! No speedsensor will kill all three. But if you actually lost the VSS it would set a code. Are you getting a light? There are two wires that go from the vehicle speed sensor to the speedometer. I would check the wire. You can hook up an AC transformer back at the transmission and see if the speedometer works. If it doesn't then you have a bad speedometer or break in the wire. If it works then your VSS has gone bad.

i don't have any spark at the two wires going into the main wire bundle. do these two wires go directly into the back of the dash? if so looking at the dash from drivers seat are they on the left or right of the speedometer and tachometer facing? my service engine light has burnt out. i had the dash apart a while ago replacing bulbs could i have caused my problem doing this?? thanks.
