hey guys my driver side sail panel has a very small tear in it on the rubber....right on the top of the main rubber colum that the Pontiac insignia sits on........its been like this since i got the car and didnt really have a chance to try to mess with it and try to repair it
heres a pic of the small tear

has anyone ever repaired something like this and was able to smooth it out and paint it over with good results?
im no stranger to paint and bodywork so i was thinking at first maybe a little bodywork like bondo and sanding to fill and smooth the small area(after cutting out the torn piece of rubber),.......and then spray the whole sail panel lining with some flat black for a stock flat clean look......not sure if bondo will work well on here tho so im seeking some input.....if not bondo to fix the small damage im guessing maybe some plastic filler or so and then smooth out and prime/paint?......thanx in advance id like to get my sail panels looking like NEW again
heres my passenger side sail panel which i repainted last night with some flat black.

.it was so dull and needed a refreshing......the rubber on this was still mint so no need for repair which im happy.........and also u can see the Red pontiac insignia which i hit up with some red out of an airbrush real quik it needs a bit more......that emblem was faded to white.....but all in all this side looks like new again....anxious to have the other side the same way
