Ok guys don't laugh. I want to know if I the 4t65 will work with the 2.5. Before the "smart" comments start the reason I am considering this is because I am now travelling from CT to NJ frequently in my SUV gas eater. I have the 4t65 and an 88 coupe with a blown tranny. Note that I have a GT that when I ever get time is getting a 3800s/c with a 4t65e.

Thanks for the help.

Go with a 60 trans--With the 65E you will need a TCM to control the transmission being its usually controlled by the PCM. With the 60 trans, you get your overdrive with out the extra work/money.

I'm planning on putting a 4t60 in my 86 duke coupe whenever I get the mounts and axles together. I'm tired of the 3000 rpm roar at 70 mph and only 28 mpg.

the 65e would be much more work than it ever would be worth....better gear ratios are found in the 60e and 4t40e
