Hello,
Has anyone ever had a failed lower intake gasket on a 2.8? I have a whistleing noise coming from between cylinders 2 and 4 at 2500 plus rpm and for the life of me cannot figure out what it is. Compression is good. Am planning on replacing hte lower intake gasket this weekend just to dig in to find the noise.
Thanks, Todd

I had one on a rebuilt V6 with only 2500 miles on it. Allowed coolant to flow into the oil pan and trashed the lower end. If you suspect the gasket, I'd park it until you can get in there.

I had a failed lower intake gasket. Didn't cause coolant into the engine, but it was allowing oil to be sucked into the intake, causing a smoking problem.
