Ok, Im looking at buying a 1985 Firebird SE....its a beautiful car, burnt orange color, t-tops that seal, everything is mint. Only problem is that it overheated while driving and quit. Well it runs again now but makes a pinging sound....Im not sure what would make that sound.....any thoughts?

Could be lots of things. May just be one of the Y pipe heat shields lose and vibrating. With the engine running, press something to each of those shields and see if it stops. If not, hold a dowel or whatever to your ear and lisdtin to dif parts of the engine like the heads etc.
