Why is it when I hit my truck release my brake light flashes but it doesn't release? I just started last night.

The trunk popper depends on the hood having a good ground to work. Sounds like the ground is bad and it's somehow feeding back thru the brake lights to ground which would make them flash.
Try adding a temp ground to the popper with a wire and see if that resolves the problem. Then you can correct the hood ground if needed.
