I installed a new fuel pump a while ago and the old connector hose was shot. I used a piece of fuel line that was supposed to take the pressure and I just found that new hose split in the tank. What am I supposed to use for connecting the fuel pump to the sending unit hard line inside the tank?

Goodyear makes a hose specific to fuel injection...............dont use the emission stuff ( too light of duty ) or the stuff used for transmission cooler lines.

That's what I thought......the idiots at Auto Zone sold me fuel/emission hose that does have a 50 psi rating but that didn't work. I have another vehicle that we used the same hose on and now I have to drop the tank in that one too..........

I was about to say don't use the hose from Autozone or Advance but I see it's too late. I just purchased some Fuel injection hose which it states on the actual hose, it's rated at 120 psi. from a local hose manufacturing company. If it costs about $6 a foot it's the right stuff.

Well, it's my own fault for not really thinking it through. It's been quite a few years since I had to replace a fuel pump and when I asked for a chunk of hose for the fuel pump to connect to the hard line I figured that the hose I was given was able to handle the task. I didn't ask.....I didn't even think about it. At least there isn't any snow on the ground to crawl around in to do this....

I talked to the 'new' idiot at AutoZone last night just to see what they would suggest and they said that ' fuel injection ' hose was what I needed. It has a blue lining and is designed for the higher fuel pressures of fuel injection and will work installed submerged in the fuel tank.
They also said it's about $5.00 a foot, so that should be the stuff....

My new one came with a new piece to use. The old one was really mushy and coming apart. BE SURE you check your fuel gauge sending unit before you install it back into the car. I wish I had. Now I have to drop it again to repair the sending unit, or no fuel gauge.

There is a specific type of hose that is used inside the tank. You need to look for SAE J30R10 labeling on the hose. SAE J30R09 is efi hose but it for use outside of the tank.
