OK I had the AC working great, had 134a converted with new canister and everything. Then the clutch went out! So I broke a puller, Welded it back on, and still couldn't pull it off. SO I went and got a Junk Yard Compressor. Spun the old oil out, and put the new oil in. Worked for about a day, and now it stopped. I turn it on and it is cold for a bit, then gets warm. Compressor still cycling, tubes are warm to touch. If I leave it off for a while it will work again, then go warm. SO I am thinking maybe there was some dirt in the compressor that broke free and is cloggin the tube. So where is it so I can evac and check?

In the front trunk, against the middle of the lower firewall, inside a horizontal aluminum tube.

If you remove the orifice tube and it is covered with black goo, don't bother doing ANYTHING else until you have the system thoroughly cleaned. the goo will just keep causing compressors to fail. If you wanna know more, SEARCH on black death. Also, you might consider using a variable VOV / orifice tube if you wanna get maximum cooling from your system.

i put the variable tube in an R12 system and in a 134. i've done a lot of 134 conversions. and i couldn't tell a different between them. so i dont see the NEED to spend 20 bucks instead of just 2. but it's your car.
do what makes you happy

That sounds like typical air/moisture in the system. It works a bit until the moisture freezes on the end of the tube. (That's where it get cold)

Well the tube was covered in grey matter, and some small bits of plastic were coming from the compressor. So we had it apart and started it up. some more dark oil came out. Putting a finger over the tube, the compressor has not power. It was pronounced dead at 7:45 PM

Anyone have a good compressor in CIncinnati? Or know where one is? I got to find the recipt to take this one back

Local autozones have them for 300 bucks around here. Mine died a horrible death from the black goo as well, just intime for 99 degree weather.
