I don't know of any LSx engines with autos yet. I believe there's some interference between the block and the transmission. At least 1 or 2 people are working on LS4 swaps, with is the 5.3L front wheel drive version of the LS1. It does come with an auto from the factory, so that's definitely doable.

Just my work... http://www.fastfieros.com/projects

and one that is not available from my website links ... http://www.fastfieros.com/p...oydels1/loydels1.htm

All of it has changed alot since those pics... New exhaust, new low mount alt... many other things. Just trying to get the package in the car without ZERO cutting of the frame, and using a OEM axle solution.

Externally there is not alot of differance between these engines. The LS1 came in 5.3 liters and 5.7 liters. The Ls6 is a 5.7 liter motor. The LS2 is a 6.0 liter motor . The LS4 (5.3) is the only LS motor that cam stock with a transaxle. The LS4 differs in the bell housing area from the other LS motors.

The LS2 also uses a drive by wire throttle body. The LS1 uses a traditional cable trottle body.

There is no 5.3L LS1. There is a 5.3L version of the Gen III LS-series engine, but it's got a different designation. Not to be picky, but just to clarify, if you have an LS1 it's a 5.7L. LS6 is also a 5.7, but with different cam, heads, intake, etc.

There are multiple 5.3L versions of the engine. Some aluminum, some cast iron, as well as the LS4 front wheel drive version.
