My 3.4 dohc did not come with an oil cooler, do you have to run one or is there some way you can bypass it because I dont think an oil filter will fit onto the block without a cooler ?

3 different oil setups over the 3 generations actually. only 91-93 engines had oil coolers, 94-95 engines have an aluminum spacer with the oil pressure sensor in it and the 96-97 engines have nothing, the filter simply screws on and the oil sender is screwed into the block.

1st off what year lq1 do u have and we can go from there?

except for 1 exception all versions are interchangable.

I have a 92 motor, so is it nessesary to have the cooler put on, from what it looks like it is a must because without it the filter wont go into female threads?

You'll have to get the block adapter from the 94-95 3.4 DOHC or from another FWD GM V6.

Will the oil cooler from the earier TDC fit the 96-97 motor? Does anyone know if the oil cooler off of the Corvette LT-4 fit the TDC?
