Well after starting the wiring on my swap a few months ago I had to take a break as the fuel pump system had me crazy.

I had all the wiring correct but the pump wouldn't run so I took a break and did the exhaust.

Well today I finished the exhaust and went back to the fuel pump system.

I double checked everything, all wires were hooked up correctly, the pump ran when I applied 12V to the ALDL terminal and at the connector to the tank, you could hear the relay clicking but still no pump run with everything hooked up.

I started checking the relays, I swap the fuel pump relay for the A/C relay, still no dice.

What are the odds that both would be bad?

Well I finaly took the relays apart and found this inside...

Both were bad due to the amount of rusty crud inside.

Here's a pic of the inside, you can see the rusted part that slowly flaked apart over the years.

I cleaned the dust off with the air hose and cleaned the contacts with some narrow strips of 600 grit sand paper pulled across the contacts and when I put them back together they worked great.

With everything hooked up I now have the swap ECM running the pump for a few seconds when the ignition key is turned on.

I will buy a new relay but for now I'll use the old one.

If you have an old relay around put it by your ear and shake it, I could hear the crud rattling around inside on both of mine.

Steve
