I have a few nn Koein*eg/Lambo related fiero door questions for ya. Yes, these are for a door mod, but its a personal idea that ive never seen done before, but I think could be simple and original looking. Im currently about 3k miles from my car, as the exhaust manifold sprung a rust related leak and I had the car shipped home for v8 prep instead of pouring more money into the 3.4. Im aiming to get leave in august where im gonna try to work on it a bunch.

How much does a Fiero door weigh?
How long is the Fiero Door?
How thick is the Fiero door?
How far from the inside of the Fiero door sill to the outside (clearing past the body panels)
How much wiring (windows/locks) is there between door and frame and how small could it be consolidated to?

Last does anyone have detailed pics of the door, skinless door, door frame, sill, and car frame? If so, could you pass those along to me? My PFF email link will take em just fine.

Mad +'s for anyone remotely helpful

A lot

Long

Thick

A fair bit

Not much

Glad I could be of service.

Anyway, what kind of a mod do you have in mind? I've been wanting to make my doors pop out and slide back instead of hinging open.

Actually very similar to that, I wanted to have them do that but there was no feasible way to mount a track without maiming the body panels, especially one that would run that door alright and still be sturdy.

Ive been noodeling on it for about 6 months now, and I think ive got a working alternative. Ive got a friend who been in I.D. for a few years, hes gonna draft em up for me once ive got specifics and ill send it down the road to a machineshop then test fit em.

I Need some mad pics first, also if anyone knows where I can find some naked frame pics that would be great too.

A gullwing arrangement? One that goes up like the doors to the bottom compartment of a greyhound bus?

Now you've got me all curious!

I have a fully loaded door sitting in my parts room, I could get measurements, but I did weigh it and it topped the scales at 87 pounds, (power windows, power mirrors and power locks.)

Measurements would be flippin amazing. Ive got two designs worked up that I was deciding between the one the goes up like that was the one I temporarily scrapped because I have zero knowledge of shoks and struts but it works on the same principal as the other one.

The one im working on doesnt require struts in design, but that might change when I test it out. I dont want to spoil the secret but it will take some work to get it together. Right now im inprocessing at Ft lewis but ill post progress updates when I start making solid progress, right now im definitly still in the design phase.

you have about a 17"Hx3"W area to mount something on the door... If thats what your trying to figure out. and yes, that is taking up alot, so it will need to be smaller than that.

Now is that size *with* skins? Is the door the same 17 inches on the front and rear side?
