Ok so I have a 3.32 4spd and a 3.65 4spd. I need to swap the gearset from the 3.32 into the case that has the 3.65. This will give me the top end gears and the higher strength case. This is so that I can have a standard tranny that can utilize the torque of the 4.9.

I had a trans re-builder lined up, but he has managed to get himself involved with politics. ( kinda strange jump but hey he is having fun )

That leaves me with trying to figure out what to do. I have torn many engines down, swapped engines, so I do know how to turn a wrench, I have even taken apart an Isuzu 5spd to find out what I blew up. But I have never taken a 4spd apart and don't have a clue what I am suppose to be looking for.

Anyone have any info regarding the disassembly of a 4spd. Any info will be greatly appreciated.

it is actualy pretty easy.
for the most parts its a matter of opening them up & swapping the guts.
the guts mostly just lay in there, held in place by bearings on each side of the case, so when the case is split, everything is loose
if I remember right, the reverse gear is the only other thing to undo - its one bolt thru the case.
the shifter stuff is basicly levers that stay on the outside, pushing on the shift forks, which just hang from the gearsets.

for proper assembly tho, you do need a special tool/guage to spec/shim the bearings.
the Factory Service Manual has exact details
