The last ime I took my engine out it was through the top. It was a 4-speed V6. My current car is an automatic V6. Can the auto equipped engine come out OK without removing the alternator? Looks like a tight fit. I'm not asking if it should come through the top or bottom, only if I have to remove the alternator to get it through the top on an auto equipped car.

Thanks
Rick

I've never not removed the alternator to pull it out the top - so i couldn't give ya an answer -- i usually would remove the whole bracket not just the alternator

Thanks Koh- I got 'er out today:

I removed the AC compressor and bracket along with the alternator and bracket. The tough part was getting the auto tranny through with the crossover pipe still on. So I loosened the crossover pipe and the decklid hinges and it all came out pretty easily.
