Do the 93' 3.1 MPFI, and the 3100 SFI have the same mounting points and tranny requirements?

I ask because I might be able to get my hands on a 3100 SFI (friend wrecked his car) and it has 50k less mileage then mine *and 20 more hp * just wondering if they have the same mounting points.

This is on a 93' Chevy corsica btw

Yes the 3100 can bolt up the the same trans as the 3.1. The 3100 is a newer gen of the 3.1.I have a 3100 that I am going to put a 4t60 behind and put in the car. It isnt a direct swap like the 3.1 though. More sensors different wiring. If you really want to squeeze more HP out of it than that swap a 3400 top end onto it. Heads and intakes. you should get yourself another 10-15 HP without even porting them. The 3100 you have has stamped rockers and smaller heads both valve and ports than the 3400's(or 3100 >year 2000)It also has a larger throttle body and it is a direct bolt up. I just got my 3100 cam back from comp and they reground and got me more duration for both intake and exhaust. Only cost 125. Good luck I say go for it. You'll save weight over the cast 2.8 as well with the lighter top end.

3100's I thought were started in production half way through 94?Maybe not......

I was also wondering if they both have the same engine mount points, so if I go with the 3100 if I can just drop it in using the same mounts.

The 3400 has the same mounting points as the 2.8, so I'm assuming the 3100 will as well. If your 3.1 has the same L bracket used on the early V-6 Fieros, you'll need to grind a bit of the oil pan to clear the bracket. The bell housing is the same on both engines. You might need to use the injectors from your 3.1 so the engine doesn't add way too much fuel. Since the 3100 fires one injector at a time, they flow rate is higher than the 3.1.

I did the same thing except it was in a fiero, I had a '93 3.1l for 1.5 years and then it started knocking (250,000km + really hard driving = broken piston) so I grabbed a '03 3400 and droped it in. I lost a second of my 1/4 mile and I get about the same mpg, mine could realy use larger injectors and some tuning because the 3400 and 3100 flow alot more air then the 3.1l.

Check out j-body.com and do a search on 3x00 powered j-bodys.
