I know I will need the 2.8 obviously and the wiring harness and computer......is there anything else I need to swap a 2.8 in? any engine mounts or anything? and can it go in from the top or is it the bottom only b/c somebody said something about that, they said a 2.8 will have to go in from the bottom...

In addition to the wiring, ECM, and a *complete* engine, you'll also need:

-- Coolant crossover pipe, along with the appropriate rubber hoses
-- Engine mounts (including the driveline shock absorber)
-- Fuel pump, filter, and lines
-- If it has A/C, you'll need the appropriate hoses/pipes for the compressor

I might've missed something. But that's most of it.

-- Don't forget the fuse in the tbi inj #2 slot (forgot this on my swap )
-- The intake setup ie. airfilter housing and ducting
-- The alternator (2.8 uses serpentine style belt vs 2.5's v-belt)
-- 2.8 dogbone and driveline shock absorber and mount

Anything else.......?

For the amount of work that needs to be done for that swap, you might want to concider a 3.4 swap. all the parts needed would be the same, the cost might be a little less and you would end up with a little more power. Just my 2c thrown in. oh yeah, you will have to drop the cradle for that swap.

Read up on many of the cradle dropping threads, even v8archie.com has a step-by-step on this. I've heard it is way too much work to take a motor out from the top, with the risk of breaking the window. Also, when you swich the motors, for everything you have to swap out, you need to drop the cradle in order to get to everything more easily.

EDIT - Is this an 84? Because then you have a few other things to deal with concerning the ecm and harness...

I've done this swap....................NO FUN !!!! even after trying to get the wiring & ECM swapped, of coarse nothing matched up. So wiring wise I may as well have put in a 3800
