sorry for the size of the pics my first try at this. The first pic is my 84 engine compartment. It is houseing the reman 5-speed Izusu that I installed 2-years ago. I screwed up and tried to use a S-10 pressure plate and slip city. gonna put a good used Izusu in it's place with a 4 cyl clutch. this one will be my daily driver. the 2nd pic is my 88. this is the one that will get the 4.9. 3rd pic is my 84.(i know it has a 87 rear.)4th pic is my 4.9. the exhaust manifolds i'm useing are the left manifolds off a HT 4100 RWD caddy seville. they mach ports to the heads and dump straight down.should work for true duels(I hope).5th pic is my belt set up. and the last pic is the 88' engine compartment that will be the new home for the 4.9.-B-
-hey thats pretty cool, i bet ur excited.......i kinda want a 4.9 myself, do you know how much you are going to spend doing the swap? (that is including the motor n such) because you just might convince me into doing it!

Well I got VERY lucky getting parts. My reman motor and reman trans were free.I used to work for a automotive warehouse. the trans was a "core" and the Motor is a very low mileage crate motor that was a warrentee return. Looong story. But yes it keeps me going. Tonight I'm getting ready to do my clutch replace/trans swap on the 84. will try to do better with the pics.-B-

well ive had a lot of bad luck lately. my 84 caught fire and burnt to a crisp. my reman trans cracked in the bellhouseing while i was notching it for my 4.9 . bd luck just follows me around
Finally got the hoist and pulled my 4.9 off the stand. Bolted up the clutch to the flywheel.useing a S-10 4x4 disc with a getrag fiero pressure plate. Take another look at my Exhaust manifold it is the driverside HT 4100 RWD caddy. Also I'm looking at useing the water neck from the 2.5 it is mounted here in the pic.
Another view of my 4.9 sitting on the crate pallet from the crate that I got it on. Also on this side I've got a HT4100 RWD driverside exhaust manifold. they both exit straight down.
Here sits the poor little tired 2.5 with very little compression left. pulled it out the top wire harness and all
Here is proof positive that the 2.5 can bee pulled out the top. one thindg looks like once I get the craddle out I'll have to drill new holes for the 4.9 poly mount. The poly mount holes are straight across while the 2.5 mount have offset holes. more to come -B-

Drivers side HT4100 exhaust manifolds. from the rear wheel drive caddys. used a stock exhaust for a 4 cyl. this runs from the rear manifold into the muffler on the passenger side. Then runs to the driver side out the back. This sid of the exhaust will only work on stick swaps because the manifold will hit the trans. the front is also a driverside HT4100 manifold . runs into a muffler on the drivers side under the enginedown the passenger side out the back on the passengerside.. this can be done with the auto .-B- P.S. in this Ky. heat need something to cool of. Also the caffine keeps me going.
