Ok I went though this about 4 or 5 years ago. There was a doohicky thing under the dash that messed up that caused me to lose my dash lights. Now for the life of me I can not remember what it was. It was a diode, or relay or something. My friends car's dash lights just quit on him. Nothing seems to work at all. I have not been able to take a look at it yet, but he is on his way over here in an hour or so, so I hope that somebody has a good suggestion. I will try a diffrent switch at the same time to see if that might be the problem.

I went through that, but it was one of the fuses. one of the 5 amp fuses blew and took my dash lights. for some reason the dash lighting is a different fuse that the gauge cluster. Go figure.

Does your car still have the dinging sound when the key is in the ignition and the door is open?
