What can someone expect to pay for a 4.9 liter caddy engine, transmission wiring harness and ECM. there is a fairly low mile one in a local salvage yard, all the above for $500.00. Does that sound reasonable?
Thanks for any input.

It really all depends on where you live and if cadilac's are rare in scrapyards. Here in Alberta Canada cadilac's are rare. It was very difficult to find a low mile 4.9. So I paid for it. Probably around 1600$ American. This was offcourse everthing included except for transmition.

Here in florida I got mine from a wrecked 93 caddy that was hit in the back hard the place started it up for me and tested this motor monthly I got all the pfi stuff and dist except for the computer... This engine had 50k miles only and they cleaned it with a chemical when pulled and practally made the thing look brandnew They only charged me $500 bucks plus I gave the guy that cleaned it a $20dollar tip ( he did a very very nice job)
Turned around and sold all the pfi stuff on it for $100bucks so really I only paid $420 bucks for a 50mile engine.

jeffndebrus - if you don't mind me asking, how much was it for the wiring harness and chip work? Would like to know about how much more I am going to have to come up with to get this thing road worthy, as I am now having problems with my frame (rust).
Thanks to all for the info.

It helps when you know the owner of the yard and the car is next in line to get crushed.
