So, the SE's and the Indy are slicker than the fastback?

If I read that list right, the 84 coup has the most drag at 0.377 and the fast backs are next? Is the with or without a wing?
Seems like the front nose would make more differance than the rear clip? So the GTs should all be the same? But I guess that if the rear clip causes a vaccume behind the rear window this would cause the extra 0.015 drag.

(Autocar Mar 13th 85)
The base fiero (4 cyl coupe (with 13 inch wheels) is 0.377
The Coupe (with wider 14 inch wheels and tires) is 0.406
GT notchback without spoiler is 0.370

(Car & Driver Nov 84)
The GT notchback (includes Indy) with rear spoiler is 0.350

(Sports and GT cars, Dec 87)
Fastback GT with spoiler 0.340

I can't find any CD info on the "Formula style nose" found on the 87/88 coupes and 88 formulas

Yay, now if I get bored in my engineering classes I can apply these and figure all kinds of neat stuff with the drag coefficient :-)

So if the wing reduces the drag from .37 down to .35, why do guys think they are going to get better performance by taking it off?

The weight isn't as critical as drag.

Because they aren't looking at scientific data, just removing stuff to make a cleaner look.

If you wanted to reduce drag get a fastback and enclose the gap behind the rear window. I bet it would be worth .04 or more. Using undercarriage panels would also make a large difference.
