Trying to get the spare tire compartment out, haynes manual doesn't say anything about it, I was told it would be a quick 5 minute job, but it looks like there's alot of stuff to remove to get it out. I took out the 4 obvious bolts at the top front, and find these rubbery screws all around, what do I need to remove?

there are:

  • the four screws at the top edge which you've already identified
  • a number of those plastic rivet/push-pin thingys along each side, and along the edge which sits against the bulkhead
  • one screw on each drain hose from the HVAC air intake/wiper linkage tunnel
  • two brake line retaining clips on the side of the tub which faces the radiator

I think that's it. Then it's just a matter of wiggling it out past the brake m/c and other components. Good luck!

Yes it gets dust and dirt in there with it removed. I removed mine when I had Cowdins install a new rack. Just a short drive and it was dusty and dirty.
