Are the alternator and water pump on the same belt? I was driving down the road when my car began to squeal that awful crap. The voltmeter dipped to 13 and the temp just went up and up until the squeal stopped and the volts were normal and the temp flew back down to normal.
Sound like its just a belt tension issue? This is on a 2.5, by the way.
