Hello,
Does the VIN tell us anything about a car's original paint color?

Thanks!

Yes, the dealer can usually look up the vin and get the color. Fieros may be too old for them to keep the records though. Ive done it lots of times when owners lost the paint code tag. Without calling anyone though first, open the front hood and look on the inside of the drivers fender. Youll see a white paper tag with a bunch of 3 digit numbers. the bottom line will have a number that starts with 'WA_______" followed by 4 numbers = thats your paint code. ie/ WA-8555 = black.

Thanks! I was looking at at Fiero on the Internet and was hoping that the posted VIN would tell have information about the car's original color. It will be good information if I go look in person.

Thanks again.

The VIN in and of itself tells you nothing about the car color.

Yes, at one time is was possible to look up a VIN and correlate that to a car and determine it's color and options. I doubt a dealer can do that on a Fiero though, I don't think they would keep records that long. You can try Pontiac Historical services, but it's going to cost you. Best thing is to look for that point code under the hood. Based on the fact that you are just looking at a car it's possible to find out more from the VIN, but probably not worth the effort,

I'm going to look at the car in person over the weekend so I'll check the tags!

Thanks for the help!
