Hey guys, I need some advice on hot to make my 85GT competitive on a budget. I will do the 3.4L swap form a 95 Camaro as well.

here are some rules the car needs to live by.. :

The Enduro class is open to any make of automobile with a wheelbase of 96" or more as factory listed for that year/model . Jeeps, SUV’s, vans and convertibles are not be allowed. No AWD or 4WD.
All stock engines for the make and model of car are allowed. This includes 4,5, 6,and 8 cylinder and rotary engines. Superchargers and turbochargers are allowed only if they came that way from the factory and use factory parts only. (Note - You may be required to prove this with a shop or Haynes manual, if necessary).

Roll bars, cages, racing seats and seatbelts may be installed securely for protection. A fire extinguisher mounted securely within reach of the driver is recommended. No reinforcements in front of firewall or trunk area

All holes in the floor must be covered. All doors must be welded, chained or bolted shut. The exhaust pipe must exit behind driver. Sunroof holes must be cheet metal covered and properly secured.
The gas tank can be securely mounted in its original position underneath the car or, it can be in the trunk strapped with at least 4" strapping and firewall between driver compartment and trunk. Fuel cells are allowed.
The battery must be securely mounted and covered. It may not be mounted in the driver or front passenger compartment.
Set-up
This is an endurance race for production cars. Any chassis, suspension or engine modification may result in disqualification from the competition.
Antifreeze is not allowed for all summer enduros. It is permitted for the winter enduros only.
Any transmission or engine may be used for that make and model of car. The body must be stock appearing and in stock position on the frame. All suspension parts must be stock with no modification. All original wheel arches and metal inner quarter panels must be retained. Excessive cutting of the chassis bracing is not allowed.
All chrome moldings, ornaments, door handles, glass, external mirrors, tail lights, headlights and plastic components must be removed, except the grill. All flammable interior pieces (plastic and fabric) and carpets must be removed except for driver’s seat and the dash.

The windshield may remain in the car. If the windshield is removed, the entire opening must be covered with sturdy wire mesh (mounted securely to the windshield frame).
Stock carburetor/fuel pump/manifold or stock EFI systems (only) are allowed. No aftermarket fuel system parts are allowed.
Tires can be a maximum 60-series. All must be DOT approved street tires with a minimum tread wear rating of 200 (Must appear on the sidewall of the tire, as produced by the tire’s manufacturer.) Racing tires or race-compound street tires are not allowed.
Wheels may be steel or alloy provided they are stock OEM production. Aftermarket racing wheels are allowed providing they are no wider than 8 inch

there is more.. but what should i do? i want to be competitive but not get discqualified.

Cheers!
Eric

sounds like u can't do the swap then since it's not an oem engine with that model...unless i misunderstood sumtin...

better juice?, ensure ignition/spark system is newer, disable any ac/other unecessary electrical accesories, lighten it up, no spare/jack/psgr trim seats etc? & accesories...

well. my understanding is "visibly" stock, the 3.4L can easyly pass as the 2.8L with the fiero upper intake ect...

so what can I do to make her tough? is an open exaust a good idea?

This is not a street car.

thanks!
Eric

Might also have trouble with the "All chrome moldings, ornaments, door handles, glass, external mirrors, tail lights, headlights and plastic components must be removed, except the grill. All flammable interior pieces (plastic and fabric) and carpets must be removed except for driver’s seat and the dash." part of the rules.

I saw someone enter a Toyota Starlet in one of those Enduro races. Had to be life-flighted out.

Hmmmmmph!
I'd be damned if I would let someone cover my sunroof with sheet metal and then weld my door shut. Sounds like a deathwish!!!
