Okay well just wanted to know how many people have mounted their alternator's down low and what sort of mounting you guys used to make it work. Mine is down low but seems to be offset from the other pulley's which is causing the belt to fly off and a lot of squealing. I need to have something re-designed and have seen some down low and looks as if you guys used the stock Fiero alternator mounting bracket and then welded something to make it so you could use the stock dogbone location as well. Can you guys give me some more info on this and let me know. Also can you use a GTP alternator if you use the fiero mounting bracket or only the Fiero alternator will work? Please fill me in. Thanks.

Use the 1988 Fiero alternator.

I will post picks of my second swap. I put a 3800 SC in my 88 GT, I convert it to a 5 speed.

Mine's not running yet, but I went down low to clear the hood struts. I used the GTP AC bracket to mount mine. I drilled a hole in it for the top mount, used the bottom as is, and made a bracket for the back. I'm using the original tensioner in the original location, Just replaced the pulley to one with grooves. If I remember correctly, the belt is 56" long.

edit; It's also the stock GTP alternator.
