well i think im going to buy a remanufactured 3.1. it is apparently done with federal mogul, mellings, and felpro stuff, plus some others. i want to have my fiero heads rebuilt, ARI phase 2 cam, home port and polish on intakes and exhaust. what kinda HP am i lookin at there? as far as i know, the engine is intended for the minivan, but with these upgrades it should go over the 130 stock rated HP.
Also, with a T3 turbo and intercooler on it, doesnt that make it very similar to the grand prix 3.1 turbo intercooled?

Sure....except an entirely different block/heads/crankshaft/pistons/rods.........LOL were all different

It will work fine....but the parts are not nearly as beefy as the turbo models components are........take it easy.

It is similar, but still quite different. The 3.1 Intercooled Turbo had a smaller turbo (T25), and built up internals (forged pistons, rods, crank, etc...), and lower compression, (8.8:1 instead of 8.9:1), not a noticable difference in compression, but technically it is lower. It also had a 5500rpm redline instead of the 6000rpm redline on the N/A 3.1's. It was rated at 205hp/225lb.ft stock. Stock they run 7.5psi boost, but with a chip you can run 11-12psi safely. With a custom turbo setup, on an engine not built for the boost, I wouldn't run more than about 7.5psi boost though.
