When designing a turbo header how important is it to have equal length pipes feeding the turbo?

Because of the way many place the turbo it favors the one exhaust side, the one closer to the rear trunk. I believe Design One does it this way. Though I have seen another where that side is channeled, curled under the turbo so it appears to be more equal to the other side.

Does it really matter?

From what I read its a tradeoff, if you can have short equal length headers then do it, if they start getting long then its not worth it. Exaust velocity is key to keeping down lag and long runners tend to kill that.

as mentioned, you want them as short as possible and of equal length so that it gets each exhaust pulse individually.

I was going to relocate ours to off the rear manifold and use the crossover on the 4.9 but the "turbo" people say it would be a disadvantage.
