My grandfather used to jokingly say "drive them in....push them out" speaking of cars we had in the shop.......lol.

I haven't worked on an 84 in about 10 years. All I can say is THANK GOD.

I'd forgotten how different they are and how unhelpful the manual is....GRRRRR.
I just put a clutch in...that's all. The car had been sitting for several years and I gently checked the wiring. Now....no start.

TBI has fuel available. The connector will not blink with a tester. Has fire on the pink wire. No fire or ground on the blue wire I've checked the wiring from tbi to firewall. Check engine light will not come on. Diagnostic charts are VERY simplistic. According to the chart the ecm is bad or the ground is bad or the system voltage is underpowered........The only thing I've found is a tan wire with 12v on it that corroded off at the first junction (not the one that goes into the car) I guess tomorrow I'll separate that junk and solder that, but I have very slim hopes that this will have any positive effect on my prob.

I'm an electrical specialist of sorts and know I CAN find this, but I don't want to tear the car into little pieces.

Any help from any 84 owners....specialist would be very much welcome. Thanks.

Phil

Does anyone else smell smoke?

the injector isn't getting power... The RED wire should be hot any time the key is on. The blue wire should show a connection to ground when the ECM tries to fire the injector.

check your fuses.

No check engine light? The ECM may not be getting any power. On the 84's, there is a single wire connector underneath the intake manifold near the distributer. This wire supplies battery voltage to the ECM and if it's not plugged in, the car will not start.

ROD........I COULD KISS YOU! WELL MAY A HUG..LOL. YOU CERTAINLY KNOW YOUR 84'S. THE WIRE WAS PLUGGED UP, BUT HAD BEEN STRESSED ENOUGH BY DROPPING THE CRADDLE TO SEPARATE IT INSIDE. I NEVER WOULD HAVE SEEN IT. MANY THANKS AND I'D GIVE YOU 10 +'S IF I COULD.
