I'd like to install a newer Pontiac radio(hopefully w/CD) in my Fiero. What years and models will fit ? I know the harness and antenna lead will need adapters etc.

Thanks,
L.R.

Paul Vargyas installed a 91 Firebird CD player that he described as "looking like it was made for the Fiero."

So a search for a member named Kru on the forum. He has complete packages put together that include everything you need to install a late model radio (with CD if yuou want) into a Fiero... And he give special discounts to forum members.

Like this?

Thats a radio out of a '99 Grand Am. I bought it from Kru.
Here's the thread in the mall: https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum4/HTML/011110.html

As for donor vehicles, you can get it out of any Pontiac up to the 2004. I think they went to double din size in the 04s when they added the MP3 player option.

Just be sure youre not gonna want MP3 capability etc. down the road.

Stock looks arent everything. The prices Ive seen for a GM radio with CD and adapter dont seem worth it.

You can make the adapter pretty cheaply, and find radios on ebay too. Many GM radios will fit, if you aren't concerned about looking "stock." I bought an AM/FM/Cassette off ebay with the intention of adding a GM Factory CD changer at a later date.

Check out my radio page for info on making your own adapter and wiring up a newer radio. http://www.geocities.com/andylphoto/fiero/wiring.html

BRUCE try this site for your antenna adapter.
You might give them a call, tell them exactly what you need. http://www.scosche.com/scosche/antennas/adapter-cables.asp

I just ordered a CD/radio from this gentleman and the adapters as well http://users.consolidated.net/kkruger/retroradio.htm should be a very simple install. Check out his web site.

Thats Kru, he sells 'em through his website and in the mall here, as well as having some on e-bay from time to time. Very easy install

Antenna adaptors can be gotten from junkyards, Auto Zone type places, WalMart, or the dealers.. No proble there...

As for MP3 capability.. I pulled an MP3 player out of my car to put this one in... In some cases, stock looks (with added quality) are everything. I have a CD changer added in the trunk, and if I want MP3 I can always hide an input for an optional player. Someone who is not interested in stock looks will surely be looking somewhere else.

I have a 99 Grand Am CD player with the 7-band EQ like the one shown above. Will bolt right up in the stock Fiero dash but you might have to use washers behind the mounting points to bring the deck out flush with the Fiero's trim plate. The harness and antenna are different from the standard Fiero but you can get adapters cheaply enough from AutoZone.

MP3 capability is not a concern of mine but theft is. It seems that no one is interested in a factory deck anymore, at least not enough to steal them. Would-be theives become even more deterred when they see the theft-loc LED flashing because the theft code has been set.

BTW, bought mine off www.car-part.com for about $120 w/ warranty shipped to my door. Can't beat the quality.

If you know nothing about car stereo then go with Kru's setup. It's plug an play.

If you are the least bit handy you can get the adapter yourself just about anywhere. About 99% of GM cars built since 88 are din and a half. Stay away from the 2003 and up radios and you'll be fine.

If you want totally a totally stock look then go with a Pontiac radio then will have the red lighting.
