What color are the plates that are on the dash. I am talking about the plate that is around the guages, around the center vents/heater controls/radio, and around the shifter?

On my Dads Fiero with the 2 tone brown interior, his have a brushed aluminum look, on mine they are a black chrome look.

There were 4 colors available, can't quote the years though.

Silver paint, that was in the low end versions.

Brushed alluminum, in the gray interior ones.

Gold tone brushed alluminum (very subtle) in the brown interior cars.

Dot matrix in the 88 cars

I believe dot matrix was unique to 88s so it is costly to buy them in good condition. On the other hand if you have a set in good condition, so can sell them for quite a bit of coin.

I've never seen the silver paint. but i agree on the other 3.

Ling has just black and i've only seen that on 84 cars

Yeah, dot matrix was 88 only. They can be pricey, especially the radio surround plate and the shifter plate. I put the dot matrix trim in my 86, IMO it looks nicer than the brushed aluminum trim that was there.

I've seen a lot of 84's in the junkyards with black trim pieces. I was never sure if they came that way, or if they just turned that color after baking in the Arizona sun. I've never been in an 84 that wasn't in a junkyard, always been curious about that.

Low_Key, do you have a 5-speed shifter plate or an automatic? I'm looking for a 5-speed plate if you're willing to sell. The one I have is almost perfect, but I want to keep a spare around.

Actually the 1984's had the brushed aluminum look, but it has a slightly blue tone where the 1985-1987 had a more gray tone.

I have two 84's with black trim panels. They were in a barn for 9 year & the sun never shines up here so they are definitely not sun faded.

My Dads 84SE has the Gold tone brushed aluminum, looks different, with a gold hue to it.

I guess you could call my trim pieces black, but they do shine, they are more of a shiny dark grey color.

Thanks guys, my car has 2 84 specific colors, a black trunk, and black trim.

I would estimate about $100 for the set (gauge, shifter, radio), if they are in show or near show condition.

Here is another thought and what I am going to do, get yourself some 10 mil wood vaneer and turn the into real wood dash parts. A set like that goes for big $.
