Hey guys, I'm looking at new wheels, and I found a style that I actually like! A problem that I see is that the widest size in 17" is 7" wide. What is the widest tire I can realistically (and dependably) mount on that size? I honestly want close to or wider than 10 inch tires on the rear. I'm happy with like 225s or so on the fronts.

They do make 7.5" and 8.5" with a 5x114.3mm pattern which I could get with that new Street Dreams setup.

Rim width, depends on the rim manufacture.Remember that the wider the rim the higher the cost for the tires. This will also add weight to the car, makeing it a bit slower.I don't know what the maximum tire width would be.Are you running a v8?Have you thought about a wide track suspension? This will widen the rear with out the added tire weight.

Yes, I will be running a V8 and yes I am planning coil-overs. I'm just trying to settle the question on changing the bolt pattern... I'm not too worried about rim weight.

I'm not sure what style you are looking at, or your budget. However, you may want to check the Team Dynamics web site. Their Pro Race 1 wheel is currently available in a 17X7" and soon in a 17X8" size on a 5X100 bolt pattern. They will have these wheels in several offsets, including (as I recall) 23mm; 30mm and 35mm. You can get a 255-40-17 on the 8" wide wheel even though it is spec'd for a 8.5-9" wide wheel. However, given the rpm range of the V8, I think I would recommend 245-45-17 in on 8" wide rims in the rear and 225-45-17 on 7" wide rims in the front. The 245-45 is slightly greater overall diameter that the original 215-60-15 tires. I have a contact at Team Dynamics and would be willing to put together a group buy if there is enough interest.

I think I'm just gonna have to give in and update my bolt pattern in the rear to atleast 5x114.3 or higher to get the 8-8.5" wheels. The wheels I'm really crazy about right now are the Konig Imagines. They've really caught my eye for some time now...

Thanks for the reply's guys!
