I just received the Speedhut upgrade gauge panels. The instructions say to remove the current panels and install the new ones. Is it possible to just install the new panels on top of the old ones? Taking the old ones out seems like an unnecessary step.

I'm a firm believer in following instructions. There is usually a reason for them. Is it that much of a problem to remove and replace??
