I'm going to be doing a High performance rebuild to a 2.8 hopefully this winter and switing it into my car during the spring. I've read of people carberating the stock 2.8. What kind of power gains are there to be had from this? I'd put a Holly 4-barrel on. Would I need the Holly intake manifold? So what all is needed to be done, removed, added, etc? Is there a write up on this? A kit?

2nd thing, if I carbed it, could I still turbo it? How would I keep it from overboosting (because the ECM will be gone, so it can't be connected to that...)?

To carb a 2.8L all you need is the Edelbrock Manifold, Holley 390 4-bbl carb, and a distributor from a 1984 S-10. Swap in a 4-cyl Fiero fuel pump and a regulator. Then just select the cam you want, install all, Turn key and your done.

That is basically it. For detailed questions, Just Email me.

Turbo would require you to send the carb out to be modified to a "blow-thru" carb. If you want boost, Fageol does make a supercharger for the 60* V-6, It has pulley's for 5, 7, and 9psi. As for overboost, there are pressure releif valves that were used on SC and turbo engines before ECM's.
