Well the 4.9 is finally in. Now just have to get the wiring and hoses (A/C, trans and engine coolers)done. I hope to have in done within the next 2 weeks

I have plenty of room between the engine and lid. There was no need to cut the hinges. The battery will move to the front to help weight balance.

That's what I said "Two weeks", there's more than you think. I'm still working on it.
Have you checked out my post..."4.9 is in the car" lots of words and a few pictures.

On 8-24-03 I said I hope to have it done in 2 weeks (HA HA HA HA).
Well I started it up today (2 months - 2 weeks....close) without exhaust.
I had to build a new bypass module as the old one was damaged after being thrown around in boxes over the last 8 months.

It looks bad, but all the connections are soldered and heatshrink wrapped. Now it is time to get busy with cable ties.
The white block is the bypass I breadboarded last night. Since it worked fine, I will move it all to a PCB tonight.

More cable ties needed here. The inline radiator filler is off a Mazda RX7. The oil cooler is off a Chevy diesel PU.

I used a timing belt tensioner off a ford 2.3 to adjust the belt. The idler is aslo from a 2.3.

I set out to build this on a budget, and everytime I see a pulley or bracket etc, I think how can I use that.
Currently I have invested:
87 Fiero 400.00
Caddy Donor Car 400.00
Mounts, hoses, shifter cable ~100.00
Passkey module, shrink wrap solder etc, ~25.00
Axle 25.00
Grand Am brakes, Bonneville 2600 rpm stall converter, oil and trans cooler, auto shifter, 40' 00 gauge welding cable to relocate battery, fuel pump - Donated by friends or boss.

I currently have less than 1000.00 invested and by the time I get the exhaust and alignment done and am rolling down the road, I hope to be under 1400.00.

I see that you are planning on keeping the
wear and tear on your front tires to a minimum, by keeping them off the ground:-)

I wonder how long this exhaust system will last. Do they make hi-temp PVC?

The exhaust shop will not touch it without a converter, but will bend anything I bring a pattern for. This is a pic of the complete exhaust system till I get my new motor built in the spring, when I will go with true duals and some home brew manifolds.
