I've checked the final drive ratios between the two and they are close enough, 3.06 to 3.18 if I remember correctly. Any reason I cant swap one from a mating to a 4 banger to a V6? Dip stick is longer I know.

Kris Duck has a '4 cyl' auto in his 87 GT.

Still works fine after several years...

Supposedly, the 4 cylinder tranny doesn't have as many clutches in the clutch pack. The shift points will also be lower, unless you change(?) the governor.
