Hi all,

Hope someone can help.......

What is the stock wheel and tire size for a 85 GT ???.

I currently have 7.5J x 16 wheels, with 215/45 x16 tires.

Does this still give me the correct rolling circumfrance as stock ??
If this is wrong what tire size would i need in 16in to correct any speedo error.

Thanks in advance.

Great thanks for the quick response !.

If the stock tire is 185/65 x14 which i think it is, then my 215/45x16 tires will only cause a 0.5mph error at 60mph.

I think i can live with that.....

Thanks again, i have saved that link for future reference.

Just for information purposes:

There are three speedometer gears available for the Muncie 4 spd transmission. I'm not sure about other years. When I replaced the stock 215-60R14 tires on my 85SE with 215-60R15 on GT rims I changed the speedo gear to one with one fewer teeth to compensate for the larger tire circumference.

The gear is easy to replace, just be careful when removing the speed sensor from the trans case so that you don't knowk it off and let it fall inside the trans case. It is only held onto the speed sensor shaft by plastic tang on the gear engaging a detent in the shaft.
