there is alot of determining factors of how fast a car can go..IE how the tranny is geared up and how aero dynamic the car is.

if ya can get enough downforce and the right gearing 4.9 could probably do 150 atleast, for example my fiero been lowered few inches, i have a hoodscoop.... so plenty of down force but i top off at about 125ish maily cause the gearing in my 4spd is at like 5k rpm.....
hummm almost click4ed the sig thinggy....but that would be a no no!

I think he was inquiring about any sort of governer in place. Not sure, but I think there was a thread about defeating it by reprograming or turing it off in the PROM.

Yes, I referring to the artificially, electronically governed speed set by GM. I am not talking about gearing, drag etc.

Most are 108 or 112, but I've seen 114 and 116 on a few of them.

Mine shuts down at 112 indicated mph. Probably more like 106-108 calibrated. There is a chip that eliminates the rev limiter. I believe it is available from fastchip.com. Ed Parks got one and tested it about a year ago - check with him for results.
