Since having the newer sytle wiring in the front end of the car (for the newer motors) I haven't ever heard the rad fan come on until I put a paperclip in the plug that plugs into the relay, thats the only time I have seen it on.
One of the problems may be that I forgot to switch the rad fan relay too, but I forget which one was my old one and which one is the new one!

Does anyone know what # is supposed to be

on the newer style fan relay (87-88) I mixed up my older style one with my newer style one when I put the newer style headlight motors in my 85 GT. THe one i Have in my hand right now has 10032081 written on it. Does anyone know if this one is the newer style or older style?
Thanks
Matt

Duh... I forgot that they look completely different too. I'll get you a pic of the old one as soon as I get home from work tonight. Look for it in the morning.

I should have no problem then.. because both of mine are the other style.

It plugs perfectly into both relays. Now I can't seem to find the right green wire to ground to test the relay. i've grounded every dark green wire that i could see.

When troubleshooting this system, make sure you test the whole system by grounding the thermo-switch connector at the engine, and making sure the thermo-switch works.

If you don't, you may end up buying a new radiator, as I did. Spectacular explosion, not to mention dangerous! Fortunately, I was nowhere near the open hood when it blew. The right plastic side tank cracked from top to bottom.

My car's electrical system had been butchered by the previous owner, and I didn't quite get it wired right the first time. Missed one of the wires they cut and left hanging.
