I did a search and came up with a few hits for the getrag and the 4-speed procedure. What is the correct procedure for the isuzu? One said to put the shifter in 1st, one said 3rd, the haynes says to put itin neutral and pull it all the way to the left. Whats right?

Come on, someone must have adjusted their Isuzu shifter cables, what's the proper way to do it? None of the service manuals I've looked in (including the 87' factory manual) tell you the adjustment procedure for an Isuzu.

I haven't adjusted an Izuzu but here is what the '88 factory manual says.

1) Place in 1st gear
2) Loosen cable nuts at transaxle
3) Insert two alignment pins ( one vertical and one horizontal)
4) Remove lash by rotating levers at transaxle and then tightening nuts

Same manual says that Getrag shift cable is adjusted while transmission is in 3rd gear and only the horizontal pin is in. There is apparently no select cable adjustment required on the Getrag. However I did check my Getrag and the vertical pin did slide right in with the tranmission in first gear.

Hmmm. So then the Isuzu is like the 4 speed Muncie and needs both adjustments?

But isn't the shifter the same for both getrag and isuzu?

Curious,

Ok, I looked at the service manual again. Upon further investigation, I found that the Isuzu is adjusted much like the 4-speed. It would seem that my problem is that I have a Getrag shifter assembly. Has anyone used the Getrag ass'y with an Isuzu and gotten it adjusted correctly?
