The car worked fine all day and I went in the house for a few minutes and went to leave and the car wouldn't start. It was only sitting for about an hour any thoughts??

It is trying to turn over but just won't start, all my lights work and the heater works but I never checked my fuses yet. I have a code 44 and need a new oxygen sensor but that wouldn't make the car not start would it??

When I turn the key, the engine makes the noise it normally does, but it won't start and it isn't clicking. It is getting weak because the battery is dieing, how much do you think a ignition module is?, they aren't too hard to get are they?

I stopped in to noodle's place after work @ 11:00 pm, brrr was it cold! And we checked for spark and then fuel. Well, she has nice spark... But no fuel. If ya haven't already guessed, his car is an '84 Coupe w/2.5 & 4 spd.
So... No fuel=no fun. So I checked his f/p fuse, which was fine. Now, his fan is hard wired so when the key is turned, it'll come on...Which makes hearing the f/p hard. So I unplugged that, and turned the key and there was no "whiiiiiiir". So the fuel pump is currently inoperative.
The battery is getting quite low, but I doubt that this is the problem. I'm hoping that the pump is not being told to come on, thus directing the attention of myself to the f/p relay as the culprit. But again, I doubt this is the prob. as the f/p should come on after a few seconds of cranking.
I'm gonna get my test light out tomorrow and see what wires are getting power, this should help further diagnose the problem.
Don't fret Noodle, I found a f/p at Poehl's for $65. Don't forget my shop discount

Good luck. I just replaced the fuel pump in my 85 GT. It really isn't all that hard. Only took a couple of hours. Just get the Fiero high enough to give yourself plenty of room to move around underneath.

Today we played around with the wires going to the f/p relay...So...the tan/white wire is hot at all times like it should be, and the green wire is hot when the key is turned like it should be. Hopefully it was the relay that was faulty.... Guess not. Then we crossed the ground to the f/p connector in the aldl connector, and no fuel pump. We need a new fuel pump.
We're goin out to maybe get one from a guy who owes me a favor. We'll let you know Jel if we still need one, thanks for the offer -- Another example of fellow Fiero owner's hospitality!!

Well, we just visited one of the local Fiero nutz and he has a fuel pump he'll sell for 20 bux. The guy kept us there for about an hour just talking, he loves his little Fiero's!
Hey Jel, how about ya courier me up a fastback trunklock?? j/k I AM going to make a trip down your way soon. It's been awhile since I've been down, we'll hafta get Bix down there so Ryan can meet him.
Hey Lurker, I forgot to thank you in my last thread... Thats a nice informative how-to page. Thank you!

glad you like it, i'm going to try to document all the major jobs on my car. there's an engine swap (duke to duke) page in there too.
there's a minor error on the "tapping out the locking ring" picture, i should have the screwdriver on a tab on the inside edge of the ring, not the outside. i think it might be possible to break off the tab shown, but i didnt want to tear the tank back out and retake the picture.

We went and got the fuel pump from that guy today, and it checked out fine after we tested it. (Good stuff) We didn't have the time today to drop the tank. Noodle wanted to start it up, so he dumped a bit of gas down the t/b and she started right up.
But it stayed running! Everything is in working order now. What is up with this?? lol
Hopefully it continues to work fine.

She's still running! I wish I had half the luck with my Fiero's that noodle has with his.
I'm getting fuel, at least I can smell fuel when I try to start it. Spark I'm not so sure on because I am the only one work on it right now. Is there a way I can check the spark by myself? Hey cool, post number 200.
It is possible it was teh fuel pump, starting the car may just have been enough vibration to trigger the fuel pump again.
If this is what may have happened, don't trust that pump.
Next time when it dies, and you think it's the fuel pump, jack the rear of the car, kick the fuel tank, or hit it with a rubber mallet and see if the pump runs
