That link pic is a fastback GT with the "aero" nose. They made them in 86-88. Notchbacks were made 84-88. The 84-85 coupes and SE models were pointy nosed (like my 85 SE).

The 84 Indy and 85 GT and 86-87 SE models were notchbacks with the "aero" nose.

Okay, hopefully this doesn't get too complex...

IN '84:

  • Ribbed moulding
  • Only one body style available (save Indy) -- coupe, notchback, black bumper pads
  • Indy, Aero nose and tail ("GT" style), Aero side skirts, notchback

IN '85:

  • Coupe, same as '84
  • GT, same as '84 Indy

IN '86:

  • Round moulding starts
  • Coupe, same as '84
  • SE, save as Indy
  • GT, same as Indy, now with "Fastback"

IN '87:

  • Coupe, similar to '84, fascias change -- no more bumper pads
  • GT, same as previous, fastback

IN '88:

  • Coupe, same as '87
  • GT, same as previous
  • Formula, same as Coupe

....And then there were the various mods available to most/all years: Wing, decklid rack, sunroof, T-Tops ('88 only)

I may be off a bit; I'm sure somebody will correct me.

I'd be happy to correct you, dosed.

'84 Indy: had special interior, exterior trim, wheels, etc. White only.

all '84s were 4 cyl Iron Dukes only.

'85 GT: same body style as '84 Indy but the differences stopped there. Interior was 2 tone gray.

Only round moulding in '86 was the GTs (fastbacks). SE could be had with either 4 cyl or V6. GTs started mid year. GTs had GT only 15" honeycomb rims. All others were either 13" or 14" Hi-Tech aluminum (see PFF logo).

'87 was the only year for blue. Headlight motors changed/upgraded in '87.

Ttops were available in '87 and '88 as a dealer option (CJB code).

This is an 86 coupe. 84 thru 86 Coupes had this look as well as the 85 SE (2M6). In the backround is an 88 GT.

This is an 85 GT. Same look as the pace cars except they were white and had unique interior that has already been mentioned.

This is an 87 SE with T-Tops, 86 SEs shared the same look. Make note that they look like the 85 GT and Pace Car. (Note bottom trim color)

This is an 87 GT, 86s looke the same. (note bottom trim color)

This happens to be an 86 GT that is painted like an 88 (mono chrome paint, bottom trim same color as the rest of the car)

This is an 88 Coupe with T-Tops, Same looks as the 87 coupes. Front and rear bumper style change from the earlier years.

This is the second generation IMSA body kit on an 85 GT chassis.

There is also currently an 87 MERA with T-Tops on E-Bay. These were very limited production in 87 & 88 only. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1864798911

Bobohead, yes that's my V8 "Batmobile". The pic was taken 2-1/2 years ago. Lots has changed since that pic was taken. I have new tires and different wheels. Front and rear spoilers, hood louvers, and rear deck lid scoop.
