!0-degrees in drive if it is an auto, 10 degrees in neutral if it is a manual

In Drive? Why? It shouldn't make any difference if it's in neutral or drive for an Auto. At least in the 'old' days it never mattered. Can some one tell me more about this?

You could go up to 12*. You'll get slightly better performance.

I run mine at about 13 degrees with no problems. 89 Octane, and an MSD ignition

I'm also curious about the necessity of setting the timing in drive for an automatic. I remember this was mentioned a month or so ago in another thread, but I don't think anyone ever explained why the car had to be placed in drive.
