Which one of these would be most likely? Probably safest to replace both.... V6 engine. No pump sound when key is turn on...

Thanks.

It's the relay. Only the relay switches the pump on when you switch the key on. Besides, it has to be the relay because it's cheaper and easier to replace than the pump itself !

Long time no hear from, Songman!

If it will start after you crank on it long enough to build up oil pressure, it's the FP relay. If it won't, change the oil pressure switch first, then the relay, if those don't cure it, then change the pump. I think you can jump the brn/blk and the tan/white wires(A & C terminals) on the oil press switch to check the fuel pump or use the test pin on the aldl to see if the pump comes on. The ecm uses the FP relay to turn on the pump during the 1st 2 seconds the key is on, so it could well be the relay.

Thanks guys! I'll definitely check those things out. I hope it is the relay and I like the idea of 'it has to be the cheaper one'! Not to mention that I will only have a couple of days to make sure this car is ready for a really long road trip!

Do you have A/C? If so just swap the two relays and see. Also check your fuel filter.

Before you do anything to the fuel pump relay or oil pressure switch, check your fuse first.

Hey, somebody's thinking ahead of the curve!
The same fuse that powers the fuel pump relay also powers the oil press switch. Both control the fuel pump. Could be an easy fix!!!

I was hoping for a fuse when the old guy with the car told me that the fuel pump wasn't working. I checked that when I was down there making the deal for the car. I will hope for the relay.

Since I am going to be so rushed trying to get for the RFTH once I get there for the car I'm just going to call ahead and have a mechanic go over the car for me so I know it will make the trip back to CA. I hate getting my hands dirty anyway!! haha

Thanks guys!
