The cheapest gaskets and I have had them on my cars for at least five years whitout a leak are the stock ones used on the VW bug. They have two sizes and the 1 5/8 are the ones to use. They are about $.40 each and for $2.40 for six it is very cheap. Hate to give up my secrets but I hope this helps.

Thanks for the tip. I bought the high dollar ones and they are already leaking.

A guy at a muffler shop told me to throw away the gaskets and just use the Blue silicone. I thought this was kind of strange but then I remembered seeing it when I had tore my motor apart. I think I'll try your trick first.

I might have to try those. Who's the supplier? Part number? Do you get them from a VW dealer, then, or what?

I forgot I'm in Cal where all the bugs are sold. If you can find a place that sell parts for the old bugs they will have them.

to the head side or to the manifold side.
