Ok I got a HUD from the yard today and was looking for any info, wiring diagrams that may be available. I downloaded the 96 bon. diagrams but it seems to far different.

My pins are labeled and coloured as follows, well as far as I've figued out:

A - Brown/White (12v Ignition)
B - Black (Ground)
C - Brown (Dimmer?)
D - White (Display on/off)
E - Brown (Fuel)
F - LT. Blue (LH Turn)
G - Brown (Gauges)
H - Little Light Blue (km when grounded, default mph)
I - DK. Green (VSS connect to yellow wire)
J - DK. BLUE (RH Turn)
K - LT. Green (Highbeam indicator)
L - (empty or is that M???)
M - (non exsitant, although its labeled)

Dimmer side.

A - Ground (lamp)
B - Pink (English Metric Conversion?)
C - White (display on/off)
D - Ground
E - Grey (lamp Pos)
F - Brown/White

Any addition help would be great!

Dude, I hope you sort this out, this is one of the single coolest mod ideas I've seen in a while.

If you don't mind; please keep my email and let me know what parts would be needed, and how you get it running. Thanks a ton!

You might want to check if the people on the GM ECM list (www.diy-efi.org/gmecm) have any info. I'd guess that one of those lines comes from the ECM or the VSS.

Here are the wiring diagrams you requested. Although these are for a '92 Prix, there should be no difference for the unit you possess. You may, however, run into an issue concerning the VSS output from your speedo head. The HUD needs to see a 4000 pulse per mile signal and I believe the Fiero speedo head outputs a 2000 PPM signal which will cause the HUD to display half your actual speed. A translator will fix this problem. One is available from http://www.autotransinc.com/recal.htm

Here are the links to the image files you requested:

Hope these help...

Thanks for the posting! Actually I just figured them all out just before you posted. But it will help with others.

According to Oliver "This output is a sine wave of 4000 pulses per mile."

and the Haynes manual has it at 4000 Pulses per mile.

*** now my problem is that I can't get the speedo to output my speed. I unplugged the speed wiring connector, the one on the bottom and spliced in the Green wire on the hud to the brown wire on the connector. But nothing. Any suggestions?

I have the HUD on my 98 Grand Prix and I love it.

According to my notes when I was wiring in my custom gauges on my 85, the brown wire was the cruise. Looks like the yellow wire is to the VSS. I have a purple /white wire marked as "speedo", but don't remember what it's for (power maybe?). If you have an 84, the wiring might be different.
