My car doesn't have a rear window right now, and I can get the glass for it for free - how hard is it to install? Is there much required that I can really screw up?

I think its a pita. Ive never messed with it myself and I know some of the auto glass companies wont even touch them. Looks to me like you have to remove rear hood, headliner, and then rear roof section to be able to cut it out.

It is an easy job. Glass installers don't like the job because it is a pain to remove the window but putting it in is easy. Get a tube of urethane window adhesive from a auto refinishing store. Using a calking gun put a thick bead around the exterior. There were two plastic spacers under the outside buttom edges that need to be put back in place to hold the window up in position. Prop the window in position for 4-5 hours til the adhesive sets. Enjoy

Like he said, taking it out is a mega PITA! putting it in is a snap.

I'm sure it would be easy to take out with a hammer\mallet.Cover up the exterior and interior and go at it from the inside out. It's safety glass,so it should crumble into small chunks.Right?

This is also assuming that the glass is in some way damaged and you don't care about breaking it any more.

Yeah but you still need to scrape off the old seal and THAT is the PITA part

my glass was shattered. Dam little pieces of glass everywhere!! on my 88GT, the side sail panels had to come off, and I slid the new window in that way. good suction cups would have been a big help(I used two tolit plungers) got the urethane from a glass dealer. went in pretty nice!
