Okay...What I bought was a 3.4 out of a '93 Camaro. The manifold has "3.4L MFI" cast into it. The engine number matches the car. So I pop the oil pan off and what to my wondering eyes do I see??? see for yourself...

Umm.... I'm guessing a 3.1 crank?
A 3.4 is a bored out 3.1. Same crank, if I'm not mistaken.

A 3.1 is a 2.8 block with a longer stroke crank.

A 3.4 is a beefier block than the 2.8/3.1, but shares the same crank as the 3.1.

You cannot bore out a 2.8/3.1 big enough to equal the displacement of a 3.4 without some real problems (cyl. walls are too thin).

A 3.4 is actually a 3.35, but that's another story.

Oh I dunno... A crankshaft, some main caps, some rods and rod caps, a oil pump w/ pick-up. Am I close??? Or was there a round wire like cage with six oil covered white mice in there panting really hard?

By the time I posted my last msg, all six terrabytes had xfered... I guess fortunately for you, the 3.4 & 3.1 share the same stroke.
