Just when ya thought the clutch questions were over.

If I am sitting at idle, it chatters, but when I engage it, its quiet. What causes this? I looked in my manuals and it said clutch release bearing or input gear bearing. Which do you guys think? Any way to test for sure?

thanks

If it weren't the middle of summer I'd say because it's cold.

But.......it is likely either the input shaft bearing or the throw out bearing (or both). Did you replace the input shaft bearing when you replaced the clutch?

Good luck!

this is common with some throwout bearings from particular manufacturers. The sound will go away as you put mileage on the car.
